Environment-friendly and simple reduction of graphene oxide using high energy radiation |

In this study, an eco-friendly and simple radiation-based method for the reduction of graphene oxide (GO) is demonstrated. GO prepared by a modified Hummer’s method was dispersed in an alcoholic solvent and then irradiated by γ-rays under various conditions. The resulting reduced GO was characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, X-ray diffractometry, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. The experimental results revealed that GO was effectively reduced by γ-ray irradiation and the reduction degree was dependant on the absorbed dose. |
