Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) coated graphite felt electrodes for vanadium redox flow battery |

In this study, Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) was used to improve electrochemical performance of electrodes. To use this effect, various amounts of PAN were doped in the electrode and heat-treated for VRFB performance tests. The cell with 4wt% PAN coated electrodes shows much higher efficiency and capacity than the bare electrode. To estimate electrochemical activity of PAN coated electrodes, CV was performed. The peak potential difference of 4wt% PAN coated electrode was smaller than that of reference electrode. And ratio of oxidation and reduction peak current of 4 wt% PAN coated electrode was closer to 1 than reference electrode. It was confirmed that the electrode performance was improved when PAN coating was carried out on the electrode, which resulted in the improvement of the VRFB performance at high current densities. |
