In this study, acryl-based copolymer surfactants were synthesized by group transfer polymerization method (GTP). Hexyl methacrylate (HMA), poly (ethylene glycol) ethyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA) and glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) were used as starting materials to synthesize different molecular weight and compositions of copolymers following GTP procedure. These copolymers were characterized by gel permeation chromatography and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectroscopy, respectively. After polymer characterization, synthesized copolymers were applied to disperse carbon black in epoxy matrices that is critical in carbon black-filled high dielectric constant composites. |
