With the introduction of a novel method to abate and utilize CF4, a non-CO2 greenhouse gas, using multi-bed series reactors, employing a heat exchanger for heat management in new reactors is very crucial compared to a conventional CF4 abatement technology in which the use of a heat exchanger is impossible.. In this work, comparative studies were carried out in light of energy consumption to evaluate the energy efficiency with reduced operating temperature of multi-bed series reactors (two-bed (S-2), four-bed (S-4), six-bed (S-6), and eight-bed (S-8)) compared to a single-bed reactor (S-1) at 923 to 1023 K for the same amount of CaF2 production. Moreover, the effect of the heat recovery ratio on energy consumption in S-1, S-2, S-4, S-6, and S-8 were studied and energy reduction in S-2, S-4, S-6, and S-8 compared to S-1 in case of with heat recovery and without heat recovery was thoroughly investigated in this work. |
