제목 Plasma protein adsorption to anion substituted poly(vinyl alcohol) membranes
초록 Anion-substituted poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA) membranes, carboxymethylated PVA and sulfonated PVA, were prepared, and the effects of these substitutions on the plasma protein adsorption were studied by one- and two- dimensional gel electrophoreses, and immunoblotting. When Cuprophane was used as a negative control, the amount of total proteins bound to samples decreased on the order of Cuprophane, PVA, C-PVA and S-PVA, which is attributed to the effects of surface characteristics of samples, such as surface tensions and electrostatic properties, on the adsorption of proteins to surfaces of materials. Results revealed albumin was the most abundant protein in all samples. Proportion of adsorbed fibrinogen to S-PVA exceed those for PVA and C-PVA, whereas S-PVA exhibited lowest IgG adsorption affinity among the samples.
