제목 Synthesis of Heterotelechelic Poly (Ethylene Oxide) by Potassium Thioacetate as Ring Opening Initiator
초록 In this study, poly (ethylene oxide) was synthesized through living anionic polymerization using potassium thioacetate as an initiator. Commercially available thioacetate was dissolved in purified DMSO/DMF under high vacuum. After the system was completely degassed in the high vacuum line, purified EO(ethylene oxide) gas was introduced into the reactor through vacuum distillation. The reaction system was heated at 60oC for 12h. The resulting polymer was terminated using excess diethyl ether. α-thio-ω-tosyl PEO was obtained by the reaction of alkoxide PEO with p-toluenesulfonyl sulfonyl chloride. The tosyl end group was converted to various end functional groups like azide, amine, and thiol. The resulting heterobifunctional PEO was reduced using NaBH4 in methanol/THF mixture resulting in the production of α-thio-ω-azide PEO. In this presentation we will report the preliminary results.
