In order to investigate the catalytic performance of aromatization from acetylene, the conventional and hierarchical zeolites were employed. The conventional MCM-22 and the hierarchical zeolites, namely MCM-36, with 3 different Si/Al ratios were prepared. The hierarchical zeolites with layered nanosheets were synthesized by swelling MCM-22 precursor and pillaring the swollen spaces. For conventional MCM-22 zeolites and MCM-36 zeolites, we investigated the effects of their Si/Al ratios and structural difference on the catalytic performance. The catalytic performance was characterized by measuring the BTX selectivity, the conversion of acetylene and the amount of coke formation. As a result, MCM-36 zeolites showed significantly improved selectivity towards aromatic compounds and decreased amount of carbon deposition. Because the number of external Brønsted acid sites increased, this results were probably accomplished. |
