Mimicking natural structures have been known to be a great way to integrate many promising functions. Recently, bio-inspired structures have attracted widely scientific attentions for both fundamental research and practical applications because it can achieve maximum performance while using only minimum resources. In this work, we report a simple and cost-effective two-step method for fabricating thin films with highly ordered micro pattern under ambient air conditions while using variety of commercially available polymers. The surface morphology can be readily controlled through a suitable selection of water-miscible solvent/non-solvent pair or water-immiscible solvent/non-solvent pair as well as their compositions. Because the proposed strategy can also be applied to other commercially available polymers with different mechanical properties, it can be a useful technique for producing size-selective microporous membranes with diverse properties. |
