제목 | Development of One Step Transfer Method of Hydrophobic Surface on Polyester Fabric |
초록 | Much research has been done to create some hydrophobic lotus leaf like surface patterns and there are many processes which can be utilized to create these patterns on a substrate. But, a simple and effective method to obtain these hydrophobic patterns on a commercially available fabric has been an important issue for the development of ‘self-cleaning fabrics’ in the textile industry. In this study a hydrophobic surface micro patterns were first fabricated using the conventional fabrication methods like photolithography, ECF and FeCl3 etching processes. The patterns were obtained on the photoresist coated on a SS304 (Stainless steel) wafer by photolithography process. The obtained patterns were then etched in ECF bath at 2A for 60 mins to attain an etch depth of 50 µm into the substrate. The photoresist was then removed and the wafer was etched in FeCl3 to obtain some random pits which can deliver the effect similar to the surface effect obvious in lotus leaves surface. The hydrophobic surface patterns were then successfully transferred onto a commercially available polyester fabric using the hot embossing method at 150℃ under a load of 200 kg for 5 min. Contact angle of around 135º was obtained proving the hydrophobic nature of the embossed fabric. This research was supported by Basic Science Research Program through the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (2008-0061862). |
