This study deals with the kinetics on emulsion polymerization of styrene using Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose Phthalate(HPMCP). HPMCP with acid no.:145, composed of amphiphilic segments was used as a polymeric surfactant. In order to using HPMCP as a polymeric surfactant, HPMCP solution were prepared by neutralization method using HPMCP powder and ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) in the absence of any organic solvent and emulsifier. In this work, we studied three factors for the kinetics study on emulsion polymerization ; Effects of (HPMCP/monomer/initiator concentration) on the final number of polymer particles formed. In addition, the particle size distribution and the morphology of polystyrene nanoparticles were observed by DLS, CHDF and SEM respectively. |
