제목 | Plastic-Free CRF (Controlled-Release Fertilizer) fabrication through Alginate bead |
초록 | The main cause of agricultural pollution converges to fertilizers due to its uncontrollable release to the soil. To resolve such issue, controlled-release fertilizers (CRF) were invented to slow down the dosage. However, petroleum-based coating material does not degrade and its remains are critically increasing. Hence, in this study, a novel CRF was fabricated inspired by biodegradable alginate bead formation used in cuisine. In this study, calcium alginate, the outer membrane of CRF, was synthesized through ion crosslinking. Various attempts have been made to reduce the free volume of alginate beads in order to extend the release period. First of all, PVA and citric acid were added to the existing suspension, and chemical crosslinking was induced by applying high heat. Additionally, a bead was prepared by adding a mineral known as humic acid in anticipation of the role of a physical barrier. The tendency of urea release in the aqueous medium was measured through UV analysis. |
