The metal nanoparticles have been used as catalyst in various fields, and many attempts have been made to develop highly efficient and recyclable heterogeneous catalysts. In this study, gold nanoparticles were immobilized onto cross-linked melamine-formaldehyde (MF) microsphere and their catalytic activity for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol was investigated. The MF miscropheres was synthesized by dispersion polycondensation reaction of melamine with formaldehyde in aqueous media. And, immobilization of AuNPs onto the MF microspheres was conducted by dispersion of MF microspheres into HAuCl4 aqueous solution and subsequent reduction with NaBH4 aqueous solution. The morphology and catalytic activity of the gold nanoparticle decorated MF microspheres were characterized by FE-TEM, SEM, XRD analysis and UV-Vis spectroscopy. It was revealed that the hybrid microspheres showed excellent catalytic activity for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol in the presence of NaBH4. |
