Graphene-based aqueous Na-ion Supercapacitor |

Sodium-ion hybrid supercapacitors (NaHS) have recently received enormous research interest as potential energy-storage devices. The use of non aqueous electrolyte restricts the use of NaHS due to its high cost and environmental issues. Hence, the research work is mainly focused to develop positive material for NaHS to be used in aqueous electrolyte. The Na0.5Ni0.25Mn0.75O2-reduced graphene oxide (Na0.5Ni0.25Mn0.75O2-rGO) was synthesized by constant stirring of Mn and Ni precursor with graphene oxide (GO) in presence of Na2CO3 followed by calcination at ~700 0 C in Ar atmosphere. The Na0.5Ni0.25Mn0.75O2-rGO exhibited specific capacitance as high as ~180 F g-1 at 5 mV s-1 with a working potential of ~-0.2 to 1 V using 1 M Na2SO4. The presence of two pairs of oxidation (~0.34 and 0.84 V) and reduction (~0.47 and 0.15 V) peaks in the cyclic voltammetry curve confirmed the probable insertion/extraction of cations into/from the Na0.5Ni0.25Mn0.75O2-rGO. |
