A kind of “switchable” hydrogel material with a particular redox-responsive phenomena have a potential application in extensive fields. We fabricated redox-responsive hydrogel bead based on succinoglycan coordinated with ferric ion. Succinoglycan was isolated and purified from Sinorhizobium meliloti Rm 1021 and the structure of succinoglycan was analyzed by using NMR spectroscopy. We tested rheology of succinoglycan coordinated with metal solution by rheometer. Then succinoglycan coordinated with Fe(Ⅲ) ions was characterized by FT-IR and observed morphology by SEM. Succinoglycan-Fe(Ⅲ) hydrogel bead possessed gel-sol/sol-gel conversion property in redox stimuli, for instance, administration of ascorbic acid or hydrogen peroxide. According to redox-responsive phenomena, Iron(Ⅲ)-succinoglycan hydrogel encapsulated drug as a particular drug release material. |
