제목 Hydrophobicity enhancement through physical/chemical modification of MD membrane to prevent wetting problem
초록 The aim of this study is to prevent wetting phenomena which is major problem in the membrane distillation (MD) process, through physical and chemical method. To improve hydrophobicity of the membrane, grafting with hydrophobic material on backbone polymer or blending with hydorphobic nanoparticals was conducted. As hydrophobic grafting material, styrene or pentafluorostyrene was applied through ATRP (atom transfer radical polymerization) method. Hydrophobic blending material, PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) nanoparticles was embeded in the membrane. successful grafting and bleding was were confirmed by ATR-FTIR spectroscopy studies and the hydrophobicity enhancement was evaluated by contact angle measurement.
