Cationic ring-opening copolymerization of tetrahydrofuran (THF) and ethylene oxide (EO) leaded to hydroxyl-terminated polyether. This polymerization was carried out by using BF3•O(C2H5)2 as catalyst, in the presence of 1,4-butanediol as initiator. In this system, the feed ratio of EO/THF was in charge of the mole percent of EO and THF units in copolymer, and MW of poly(EO-co-THF) was merely dependant on the ratio of [monomer]/[butanediol]. It showed that this cationic copolymerization followed activated monomer mechanism (AMM). Cross-linked polyurethanes were synthesized in the presence of N-100 and IPDI as curing reagents with catalyst TPB. There were studies on the results of curing and mechanical properties of polyurethane. |
