A minute amount of ally isocynate functionalized Hyperbranched bis-MPA polyester-16-hydroxyl (MH, 0.01~0.1wt%) has been covalently incorporated into the polyurethane acrylate based matrix of holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystals(HPDLC), and the effects were studied in terms of compound viscosity, grating kinetics, morphology, diffraction efficiency (DE), and electro-optical properties of the HPDLC films. MH at very low content reduced the compound viscosity, increased the polymerization rate, limited droplet coalescence, and increased the diffraction efficiencies over the MH-free compound. For electro-optical measurements, a square wave voltage operating from 0 to 80V was applied across the HPDLC cell. The morphology of the HPDLC gratings was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). |
