제목 Catalytic performance of polymer supported zinc-containing ionic liquid catalysts for the synthesis of cyclic carbonate
초록 Polystyrene-supported, zinc containing imidazolium salt [PS-(Im)2ZnX2] catalysts were prepared and characterized by various analytical methods, and their role in the synthesis of cyclic carbonate from CO2 and epoxides was investigated under solvent free condition. PS-(Im)2ZnI2 catalyst having higher nucleophilicity among the catalysts, was the most active and selective catalyst; it was readily recoverable and reusable in the subsequent reaction cycles. The optimum reaction conditions were obtained with the minimum runs of reaction test using response surface methodology. The expected maximum propylene carbonate (PC) yield was 99.9% and validated yield of PC was 99.6% under optimized conditions (60 oC, 15 bar, 15.6 h) by a Box-Behnken design. In addition, the effect of different epoxides was performed using PS-(Im)2ZnI2 catalysts under the optimum reaction conditions. The plausible reaction mechanism was suggested for the cycloaddition of CO2 using PS-(Im)2ZnX2 catalysts.
