Two isomeric iminofullerenes, namely [5,6]-open azafulleroid ([5,6]-open APCBM) and [6,6]-closed aziridinofullerene ([6,6]-closed APCBM), were prepared by cycloaddition of an organic azide to C60. These “azalogs” enable the study of the effects of the bridge atom in a fullerene cage, i.e. C60-like (5,6-open) versus PCBM-like (6,6-closed), as a function of the changed fullerene’s π-system. The “azalogs” also enable one to access the influence of the nitrogen atom, instead of bridge carbon, in organic solar cells and in field-effect transistors. |
