Cyclic block copolymers combine both unique topology and chemical incompatibility, rendering these materials very interesting in polymer science. Nonetheless, exploration of cyclic polymers in general and in particular of cyclic block copolymers has been limited mainly due to the poor efficiency of the ring-closure reaction led in all cases to significant quantities of unreacted linear precursor and poly-condensation products.In this study, we synthesized telechelic ABA triblock copolymer of polystyrene and polybutadiene as A and B, respectively, and the synthesis of AB cyclic copolymer using the telechelic ABA triblock copolymer by a coupling reaction.
