The design of micro/nano-structured materials with various dimensions allows the achievement of mechanically soft, multifunctional, and high-performance electronics. We designed hierarchical ZnO nanowire arrays inspired by the structures and functions of human skin and developed electronic skins capable of detecting both static and dynamic stimuli like skin mechanoreceptors. Mimicking the effective stress transmission of microridge structures between the epidermis and dermis, we proposed spacer-free and wearable triboelectric sensors. For the skin-conformal design, we suggested a highly compliant and printable magnetic paste for on-skin magnetic-field sensors. Finally, we demonstrated soft and hingeless magnetic origami actuators that are shape-reconfigurable actuation by themselves like biological origami. Such outstanding mechanical and electrical properties of micro/nano-structured materials will facilitate highly functionalized and human-interactive electronics in the future. |
