제목 Effect of the architectures of block copolymers on the self-assembly in solution
초록 The direct self-assembly of block copolymers into inverse bicontinuous cubic structures consisting of the block copolymer bilayers is an emerging method to create highly regular bicontinuous porous polymers without any aid of post processes to generate internal pore networks and surface functional groups. We recently showed that the dendritic-linear block copolymers composed of a dendritic block with peripheral hydrophilic PEG chains and a glass polystyrene (PS) hydrophobic block preferentially self-assemble into inverse bicontinuous mesophases, in which the constituting block copolymer bilayers form the inverse bicontinuous cubic structure. We will describe the principles of this unique solution self-assembly of block copolymers based on our mechanistic studies. In particular, we will focus on how the architecture of the block copolymer plays a decisive role in determining the phase and symmetry of the self-assembled periodic structures by using the modular synthetic approach.
