제목 Effect of Iodine Adsorption on the Surface Characteristics of Atactic Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) Films.
초록 The adsorption behavior in atactic poly(vinyl alcohol) (a-PVA)/iodine film was investigated, which was achieved by measuring the weigh gain of a-PVA/iodine film after immersion in I2/KI aqueous solution. The surface properties of the a-PVA films were characterized with atomic force microscopy, wide-angle X-ray diffraction. On the basis of atomic force microscopy images and calculated average roughness (Ra) values, it was determined that the surface roughness of a-PVA films increased with increasing adsorption amount such as concentration of I2/KI aqueous solution and soaking times. In terms with the iodine adsorption amount increased, Ra and root-mean-square average roughness (Rq) values of a-PVA films slightly decreased. The X-ray diffraction analysis shows that intensity of main peak at 2θ = 19.5˚ (101) of a-PVA film was decreased and shifted to higher angle with increasing concentration of I2/KI aqueous solutions due to the relaxation of crystal by the intrusion iodine.
