In this study, an aminated acrtamide-styrene-hydroxyethylate ion exchange membrane was synthesized, and its functions and the CDI application were tested. The yield of the poly(AAm-HEA-Sty) precursor was 92% on average, whereas the amination ratio was 85 %. Additionally, the water content and the ion exchange capacity of the poly(AAm-HEA-Sty) precursor were 40~19 % and 1.20 meq/g, respectively. The electrical resistance and conductivity of the membrane were 4.9∼1.8 Ω•cm2 and 0.014 S/cm, respectively, which are similar to or slightly lower than those of the standard membrane, AMX. Meanwhile, testing for the TDS removal ability of the anion exchange membrane of aminated poly(AAm-HEA-St) showed that its removal ability was lower than that of the commercial AMX membrane; however, the CDI test of the nitrate ion showed that the membrane had excellent ion-permselectivity. |
