Conducting polymers(CP) have been widely investigated due to their ion-exchange behavior during charging and discharging process and considered a potential alternative to conventional actuator. In particular, polypyrrole(PPy) is most promising material in a view point of high electrical conductivity and ease of synthesis. Meanwhile the development of specific ion selective sensor for application in clinical, industrial, and environmental is an on-going challenge. However, specific ion selective sensor has problems which are lack of manufacturing technique in matrix, high price, and complicated usage. Therefore, from remarking the importance of specific ion detection and the potential of CP actuator as an ion selective sensor, we fabricated CP actuators using PPy-ionophore composite for ion selective sensor and investigated their actuation behaviors to Na+, Mg2+, K+, and Ca2+. |
