The iron nitride phase α"-Fe16N2 has been considered as one of the most promising candidates as a future rare-earth free magnetic material, due to its magnetocrystalline anisotropy, and large saturation magnetization. To enhance magnetic properties, shape control of magnetic particle into a wire or rod form with a high aspect ratio would be an effective method due to the shape anisotropy. Thus, we have synthesized Fe oxide rods with a high aspect ratio over 10, followed by reduction and nitridation process to prepare high performance α"-Fe16N2. |
