Preparation and characterization of fluorine doped TiO2 for photodegradation |

Degradation of organic compounds by UV photocatalysis using anatase TiO2 is well established. Various attempts have been made to use solar light for TiO2 activation in photocatalysis and water splitting for hydrogen generation applications. In this present work we made an attempt on the preparation and characterization of anatase TiO2 with fluorine by fluorination at various temperature. The resulting F-doped TiO2 catalyst materials were characterized by XPS, UV-DRS, and XRD. The F-doped samples show UV shift to longer region compared to pristine TiO2. The best material was tested for its solar light induced degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye and found to be active. |
