Surface Coated TiO2 Nanoparticle by Catechol Conjugated Polymer for Visible-light Enhanced Photocatalytic Ability |

We fabricated system using TiO2 by functionalized mussel-inspired catechol chemistry to visble-light enhanced photocatalytic effect. By employing catechol site, the prepared materials can easily coat TiO2 through metal complex binding. First system was carbonized fluorescence particles of catechol-q-poly (dimethyl aminoethyl methacrylate) (CA-PDMA), then hybrid with TiO2. Another system was successfully attempted the mussel-inspired linking of anatase TiO2 nanoparticles on a single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) to provide TiO2-CA-PEGSWNT hybrids. This TiO2 hybrid carbon system show charge transfers or electronic communication between them, so they provide a novel photocatalyst that shows enhanced and recyclable photocatalytic degradation of environmental pollutants such as Methylene Blue with ultraviolet and even with visible light irradiation. This approach enhances the utilization of visible light in photocatalytic activity and suggests a new photocatalyst platform. |
