제목 Ultra-sensitive detection of antigen using functionalized liquid crystal droplets
초록 The orientational variation of liquid crystal molecules in LC microdroplets in response to IgG(antigen) has been used to develop ultra-sensitive biosensor for label detection of IgG in biological matrices. To prepare LC microdroplets based biosensor, 4-cyano-4’-pentyl biphenyl(5CB) liquid crystal microdroplets anchored with anti-IgG(antibody) were prepared using sodium dodecylsulfate(SDS) as a mediator and poly(styrene-b-acrylic acid) amphiphilic block copolymer(PS-b-PA) used as a modifier of LC/water interfaces. The anti-IgG anchored LC microdroplets with a size variation have been used for ultra-sensitive detection of IgG within the concentration range from 20-1000 ng/mL with a response time of 30 minutes in PBS solution. The anti-IgG anchored LC microdroplets found useful in detection of IgG in solution containing 10% FBS or 10 % blood plasma. However, the response time of anti-IgG anchored LC microdroplets in detection of IgG in 10% FBS or 10% plasma was delayed to 90 minutes.
