제목 Preparation and Characterization of Hybrid Liquid Crystals through Intermolecular Hydrogen Bonding
초록 The formation of liquid crystal structure can have the higher strength and elasticity than metal, which is a nano-composite with high strength and light weight. The nano-composite is a very strong, light and expensive composite material. It has many applications in aerospace and automotive fields, as well as in sailboats, in modern bicycles and motorcycles, where its high strength-to-weight ratio is of importance. In this study, novel hybrid liquid crystal materials with high mechanical strength consisting of inorganic nano-particles and polymers will be described. The organic-inorganic hybrid crystals through intermolecular hydrogen bonding are prepared from melt compounding of inorganic materials such as titania or POSS and polymers. The structures and properties of hybrid liquid crystals are examined by nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FT-IR), differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and polarized optical microscope(POM).
