To increase the energy density of electric double-layer capacitors, while keeping a long cycle-life and a high rate capability, lithium-ion capacitors (LICs) using different type of cathode and anode are actively investigated. Especially, carbon have been highlighted as promising negative electrode materials for LICs because of low operating voltage and stable electrochemical behavior. However, reported carbon materials for LICs still suffer from relatively poor rate capabilities and cyclabilities. Herein, to improve electrochemical performances of LICs, we developed soft carbon/CNT composites by ball milling with soft carbon and CNTs. During the ball milling, graphene layers on carbon surfaces are stripped with defect formation. And, CNT improved electrical conductivity of soft carbon, and it could improve high rate capability. The composites showed superior rate capability and cyclability as anode materials for LICs. More details will be discussed in the meeting. |
