Water management is of great importance to maintain performance and durability of proton exchange membrane fuel cells. High water content would deteriorate a cell performance by filling up pores of catalyst layer and diffusion layer. In this study, Pt-silica/Nafion composite membrane, Pt-S-silica/Nafion, and S-Pt-silica/Nafion composite membranes with various silica contents from 0% to 6% was recast. As-prepared nano-particle Pt-silica, Pt-S-silica, and S-Pt-silica were identified by TEM, BET, XRD, and XPS. These composite membranes with commercial Pt/C having Pt-loadings of 0.2mg/cm2 and 0.3mg/cm2 at anode and cathode, respectively. The cell performance was conducted under low humidifying condition. |
