We herein report the electrical heating performances of the nanocomposite films based on poly(m-phenylene isophthalamide) (m-Aramid) and multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT). FE-SEM images evidence that MWCNTs are well dispersed in the matrix by wrapped with m-Aramid chains. The electrical resistance of m-Aramid/MWCNT nanocomposite films is varied strongly from ~1015Ωcm to ~10-1Ωcm, as the content of MWCNT increased from 0.0 to 10.0 wt%. Accordingly, electrical heating performances of m-Aramid/MWCNT nanocomposite films are strongly different, depending on the MWCNT content as well as the applied voltage of 1~90 V. For instance, the nanocomposite film with 1.0 wt% MWCNT shows a temperature increase of ~120 °C at above applied voltage 50 V. |
