We have prepared two different series of m-aramid nanocomposite films reinforced with neat multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNCT) or acid-treated one (MWNT-COOH) by using an efficient solution casting method. Dielectric and electrical properties of the nanocomposite films were investigated with an aid of a LCR meter in the frequency range of 20 Hz~2 MHz. It was found that dielectric and electrical characteristics such as real and imaginary parts of complex impedance, dielectric permittivity, and electrical conductivity of the nanocomposite films was significantly dependent on the MWCNT or MWCNT-COOH content as well as the applied frequency. Electrical percolation threshold was formed at ~0.1 and ~0.3 wt% for m-aramid nanocomposite films with MWCNT and MWCNT-COOH, respectively. Thus, frequency-dependent complex impedance and dielectric permittivity of the nanocomposite films were discussed by incorporating the effect of the nanofiller content as well as the chemical functionalization. |
