Furan derivatives are considered as one of the promising biomass-derived platform chemicals for replacing petroleum-based fuels and specialty chemicals. In this study, novel furan-based macromers were synthesized by using 2,5-furandicarboxylic (2,5-FDCA) acid and aliphatic diols having different chain length and their properties were also characterized. The structures of furan-based macromers were confirmed by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and FT-IR spectroscopies. Moreover, the molecular weights of resulting macormers were characterized by GPC and their OH values were also determined. Polyurethanes were synthesized using these furan-based macromers and their properties were interpreted with a viewpoint of macromer structure. |
