Recently, quantum dots (QDs) have been come under the spotlight as a highly-efficient luminescent material for UHD display due to their outstanding optical properties. Dispersion stability of QDs in resin is the key issue for commercial applications because their characteristic properties easily deteriorated by self-aggregation when they were dispersed. Here we report a novel and easy method for enhancing dispersion stability of QDs in resin. We dispersed QDs between crystalline regions of the macromolecular microcapsule consisting of multi-lamellar structure. We controlled the QDs content in the microcapsule from 2 to 24 wt%. The optical properties, emission spectra and absolute quantum yield, of QDs in microcapsule were impeccably maintained compared to raw QDs, irrespective of QDs content. And using microcapsule, we dispersed the highly concentrated QDs in optical resin. Dispersion state of QD in the multi-lamellar structure were confirmed by cross-sectional TEM and SAXS. |
