We aim to develop a new mathematical approach for a sustainable energy supply system. To achieve this goal, we generate a technology superstructure by integrating two technology frameworks: the renewable resource-based energy production and conventional resource-based energy production coupled with carbon capture and sequestration (CCS). We then develop the superstructure-based optimization model to design and analyze the sustainable energy supply system. The proposed model involves a multi-criteria approach where two objectives have to be optimized simultaneously i.e., economic and environmental aspects. The multi-objective optimization model is solved by the constraint method and is validated its application to the design problem of the future transportation sector in Korea. |
