제목 Effects of Thermoplastic Sizing on Surface Energetics of Carbon Fiber and Mechanical Interfacial Properties
초록 In this work, the effects of thermoplastic sizing on surface energetics of carbon fibers (CFs) and mechanical interfacial properties were investigated. CFs was heated by joule heating method using thermoplastic powder as sizing materials, and the change of interfacial shear strength (IFSS) was evaluated after the treatment. Also, the surface morphology and surface energetic of the CFs was observed by SEM and surface tensiometer. The IFSS after thermoplastic sizing increased significantly. This result concludes that the mechanical interfacial properties of CFs and thermoplastic can be controlled by suitable thermoplastic sizing on the carbon fibers in this work.
