Syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene(1,2-PBD)/trans-polyoctylene rubber(TOR) were melt blended in an internal mixer with TOR contents of 30~70 wt%. Microstructures of this blend were characterized by DSC, DMA, AFM microscope observation and tensile test. The blends exhibited shape memory effects and the temperature at which shape recovery occurs is well matched with Tm of TOR phase in the blends. It was found that the 1,2-PBD and TOR form continuous phases in the blends, which contributed to the shape recovery and shape fixing performances, respectively. |
