During past few decades, growing attentions have been paid on the development of bio-based polymers from renewable natural resources as a possible environmentally benign alternative to traditional petroleum-based polymers. In this study, fully bio-based aliphatic copolyamides was synthesized from 11-aminoundecanoic acid(AUA), 1,10-decanediamine(DD) and itaconic acid(IA) by using melt polycondensation. 1H-NMR analysis, FTIR analysis and intrinsic viscosity measurement was conducted to identify the structure of the copolyamides and to determine their molecular weight, respectively. DSC, DMA, tensile testing, and WAXD analysis showed that glass transition temperature, melting temperature, degree of crystallinity and mechanical properties of the copolyamides are decreased with IA contents in the polymer. The copolyamide with 80wt% IA content is amorphous and shows elastic behavior when it is hydrated. |
