제목 | Energy-feasibility study and exergetic analysis of a closed-loop pressure retarded membrane distillation (PRMD) for low-grade thermal energy utilization and freshwater production |
초록 | Pressure-retarded membrane distillation(PRMD) is one of the recently suggested methods to harvest low-grade thermalenergy. In this paper, a closed-loop PRMD is proposed to include the structureof thermo-osmotic energy conversion (TOEC) to enable simultaneous desalinationand power generation. To assess the viability of a new process, MATLAB is usedto do mathematical modeling and energetic/exergetic evaluations. In addition, asensitivity analysis is performed to assess the energy efficiency of the closed-loopPRMD. When compared to the other methods, the closed-loop PRMD system requiresthe least heat input (35.9 kW) and generates the largest electrical energygeneration (39.33 W) even at the same amount of water production. Furthermore,the closed-loop PRMD is found to have the least amount of exergy destruction.As a result, the suggested closed-loop PRMD is a feasible solution fordesalination and low-grade thermal energy harvesting systems. |
