제목 | Small Gas Turbine Generator with Use of ZnO Coated Ball Bearings |
초록 | Energy saving is one of the solutions for the problems of resource depletion and global environment. Reduction has been required in friction loss of the moving parts, bearings, in a turbine system and thus can save fuel and extend the lifetime of the moving parts. Many low-friction coatings such as transition-metal dichalcogenides, diamond-like carbon, and so on have been developed so far. Friction coefficients of solid lubricants usually however increase due to reaction with oxygen in air, in oil, under harsh condition of high- temperature and high-humidity. Metal oxide coating is a strong candidate to solve this problem because of the stable crystal structure under harsh condition. Friction coefficient of metal oxides known so far is usually too large to be used as lubricative coatings. We have therefore developed the reduction method of friction force of metal oxide coatings with crystal preferred orientation by using a combinatorial sputter coating system for ball bearing system. Prepared bearing system with ZnO coated balls inside was tested as change in friction during rotation under 196N in order to be compared with a bearing system without ZnO coated balls. The bearing system with ZnO coated balls inside shows about half lower friction than the bearing system without ZnO coated balls and will be a good candidate for an advanced ball bearing system in the near future. The small size gas turbine generator system with ball bearing coated with ZnO as shown in figure 1 can also improve energy efficiency up to more than a percentage. |
