제목 생물학적 메탄화 기술 (Biomethanation)
초록 The conversion of CO2 to usable energy is a challenging contemporary issue. It is being promoted as climate change mitigation measures that reduce fossil fuel use by effectively recycling carbon. Biomethane converted from CO2 can provide heat and energy. It is a pipeline-quality gas that is fully interchangeable with conventional natural gas and thus can be used in natural gas vehicles. Biological methanation systems have competitive advantages such as dynamic operation, high tolerance to impurities, and scalability. We tested biomethantaion using thermophilic hydrogenotrophic methanogen and showed great robustness, stability, and longevity and high CO2 conversion efficiencies. Biomethanation can be applied for gas energy storage process using CO2 from biogas, landfill, and industrial processes.
