제목 Characterization of Silk Fibroin Films Crystallized by Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes
초록 Silk fibroin films cast from regenerated solutions undergo conformational transitions from a random coil to ß–structure by methanol treatment, which causes them to be insoluble in water. However, fibroin films become brittle when they are crystallized, making them unsuitable for practical use. Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are considered to be the ideal reinforcing agent for improving the properties of composites, owing to their high mechanical strength, electrical conductivity and aspect ratio. Furthermore, in many studies it was reported that they can also act as nucleating agents for polymers in composites. In the present study, the incorporation of a small amount of MWCNTs (~0.2 wt%) improved the crystallinity and mechanical properties of the silk films. Induced crystallization of silk fibroin by the introduction of MWCNTs during casting from aqueous solution state was investigated by the Fourier transform infrared spectra and wide-angle wide angle X-ray diffraction.
