The decal method has been investigated in PEMFC because of thin catalyst layer and higher cell performance. Glycerol that may prevent the supply of reacting gases has been used to solvent of catalyst ink in decal method. In this paper, a modified decal method with carbon layer was employed to fabricate membrane electrode assembly in PEMFC. The carbon layer was easy to split because of using colloidal ink. So decal transfer was performed successfully without glycerol. The carbon layer achieved as micro porous layer as well as substrate for catalyst layer. Various polarization properties were analyzed in details. In addition, effect of carbon layer thickness have been investigated. The result showed that cell performance is enhanced with optimum carbon layer thickness, while no variation other experiment conditions. |
