Fiber electrodes are creating lots of opportunities with their design versatility capable to integrate with the next generation of wearable and flexible energy storages. Herein, starting from commercially available carbon fibers, we create flexible and mechanically robust three-dimensionally porous fiber electrodes for fiber micro-supercapacitor applications. Via a colloidal crystal template-assisted deposition, the fiber electrodes are prepared by multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on surface of carbon fibers. The resulting fibers have porous mesostructure and are readily applicable to fabricating electrodes into a miniaturized architecture. We anticipate that the fiber electrodes made in this study would be suitable for integrating into various macroscopic materials for wearable and flexible electronics |
