Many researches have been trying to combine proteins and carbon nanotubes (CNT) which have totally different properties for biological, chemical and mechanical applications such as patterning cells and biosensing. Our novel approaches are nanoFabrics and double microcontact printing (μCP) technique and we could fabricate totally new hybridized structures which are impossible in each own material’s system. One of the extracellular matrix proteins, fibronectin (FN), which is soft, elastic material and CNT which is rigid and have high mechanical strength were micropatterned on cm-scale area by μCP. By asymmetric contraction between bilayers at an interfaces, nm to μm size 3D structures were fabricated. This is only way manipulating these protein hybridized CNT structures, helical ribbon, rod, net, and wire maintaining each properties of initial materials. Also, pitch, width and radius of helical ribbons were easily controlled by changing stamping angles. |
