Self-Sensing and Interfacial Evaluation of Single-Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) Fiber/Epoxy Composites using Micromechanical Technique and Electrical Resistance Measurement |

Self-sensing and interfacial evaluation of single-shape memory alloy (SMA) fiber/epoxy composites were investigated using micromechanical test and electrical resistance measurement during curing and cyclic loading/unloading test. SMA (Shape Memory Alloy) is well known to be changed from martensite to austenite structure with increasing temperature or applying stress. Shape memory effect (SME) is the recovery properties with increasing temperature and applying stress. Superelasticity behavior was observed under continues stress-strain curve. Under a certain stress, modulus was reduced steepy and then recovered original modulus under further stress. Under cyclic loading stress was suddenly released at certain stress-stain level for a while and then decreased down to a certain stress-strain level again repeatedly.
