A Study of Electrochemical Performance of PANI/MWNT Composites for Supercapacitor |

In this work, Polyaniline(PANI)/multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) composites were synthesized without formation of chemical bonding between PANI and MWNT. In-situ miniemulsion polymerization of surface modified MWNT dispersions with PANI solution was used to prepare PANI/MWNT composites. The size of the PANI particles could be controlled by surfactant concentration. The structural characteristics of PANI/MWNT composites were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The surface morphology was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The thermal properties were measured by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The electrochemical performance of PANI/MWNT was determined by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge/discharge characteristics in 6 M KOH electrolyte. As a result, the specific capacitance of PANI/MWNT was improved with decreasing particle size of PANI. This was probably due to the high surface area and good conductivity of PANI. |
