Efficient production of long-chain hydrocarbons by CO2 hydrogenation over iron-based catalyst |

Considerable progress has been made in recent years to transform highly thermodynamically stable carbon dioxide (CO2) into value-added industrial chemicals (gasoline and diesel range hydrocarbons) by a combination of metal oxide–zeolite (MOX–ZLT) catalysts. Nevertheless, it is still a great challenge to synthesizing long-chain hydrocarbons (olefins, paraffin) from CO2 hydrogenation by a singular bimetallic catalyst without utilizing a C–C coupling agent. Here, we report a highly efficient and multifunctional iron-based bimetallic catalyst, which directly transforms CO2 into C5+ range hydrocarbons with CO2 conversion of 38.5%. The multifunctional catalyst showed excellent stability for 300 h on stream, which proved its potential as an industrial catalyst for the conversion of CO2 into value-added liquid fuels. |
